A wonderfully creative, informative, and ultimately empowering book for adopted children and their families. Aristotle, Nelson Mandela, Steve Jobs -- I'm honored to be included in such a varied and illustrious collection of adoptees!
Adopted Like Me is a great book that expands what "adopted" means to include relative/kinship care and guardianships as well as traditional adoption. It will be a great starting point for discussing adoption in families and will help children and youth to understand that no matter how they joined their families, they are loved and cherished. Ann Angel has both deepened our understanding of adoption and shown what a diverse mix of people have shaped our world. This is not only a family lesson -- it is also a great history lesson of the good that happens when people are loved.
Adopted Like Me is brilliant! It taps into the ideas and imagination of all children to boost self-esteem and show that if you want to, you can be anything you want to be. I thoroughly recommend this book -- it's an excellent way to start conversations about adoption and will inspire and excite adopted children of all ages.
In this book Max introduces himself as being adopted and explains what this means to him. He then shares details of 19 famous people who were adopted... There is a page telling each person's story, together with a full-page illustration... This book is informative and can be used as an aid to discussing people who have been adopted and became successful.
