Live Better and Longer – The perfect mind & body MOT

We all know that January can be a tough month to get through. It’s cold, it’s miserable, and we’re still getting over our Christmas come down.

But it’s not all doom and gloom!

Lots of wonderful books have already been published – and we’re only 15 days into 2017 – including a whole bunch designed to help you feel fitter, healthier and happier, and to pull you out of that post-Christmas slump. One such book is by France’s favourite Doctor, Michel Cymes, who gives us his best advice on living a healthier life – for longer – in his huge bestseller Live Better and Longer.

Michel’s message is simple: it is never too late.

Whether you’re a gym bunny of a couch potato, Live Better and Longer gives your body and your mind the best MOT they have ever experienced!

Foods to Live Better and Longer

  • Eat clementines! Great for morale and a good antidote to bouts of fatigue.
  • Rooibos: red-tea-tastic helps you sleep better and prevents effects of ageing.
  • Watermelon: Eat irresponsibly – Reduces the risk of cancer, fights cholesterol and prevents inflammation.
  • Cinnamon: the forgotten virtues – Regulates blood sugar levels and combats reduced libido
  • Pomegranate: the magic fruit – Strengthens bones & muscles and even reduces dental plaque
  • Peanut buttera happy substitute – use instead of butter or oil for a healthier option
  • Lemon juice: easy detox –  Its sourness stimulates the taste buds and aids digestion.
  • Almonds: the good fat – Keeps cholesterol at bay, boosts immune systems and does battle with osteoarthritis

Eight foods for fat burning

Oat bran The fibre slows down the absorption of sugar into the blood, which helps avoid peaks and troughs in energy.

Chilli The minute you eat some chilli, your body’s internal temperature rises. Your metabolism is given a boost

Cinnamon Adding cinnamon to your food reduces and stabilizes blood sugar levels. Sugar makes you put on weight. So, less sugar = less weight

Vinegar This also helps regulate blood sugar levels. Don’t try it by the glass, it’s better on a salad!

Lemons They contain citric acid, which helps burn fat. A small glass of juice first thing in the morning will do you the world of good.

Apples Eaten as a snack, they cleverly trap some lipids before they turn into fat rolls.

Green tea People are forever praising its slimming and diuretic effect. Tannins reduce fat absorption.

Coffee Caffeine does have benefits, namely it burns some fats. Watch out for the boomerang effect though: no more than three cups a day or you risk succumbing to anxiety or stress that often result in . . . guess what? Fat storing!
