‘The PIs Handbag 101 Tip #3: Eyebrows
Cartoonists, make-up artists and cosmetic surgeons have long known about the impact of the brow. In the eighteenth century women glued mice to their foreheads. Today, we Botox, surgically embolden and tattoo them. Their role is intrinsic to our individuality. Our expression of desire, shock, wrath and empathy is as unique as a butterfly’s wings. Which is why secret agents and torturers are trained to read the forehead. It is also why I carry an eye pencil. Sable brown. Manipulating the brow’s arch and girth discombobulates recall. As do eyebrow hiders: the absence of forehead hair diminishes our ability to recognise even familar faces. For further information on cosmetics and surveillance, see The PI’s Handbag 101 Tip #4: The Magic of Make-up.
A power-précis:
- Go off beam. Pale people should err towards a Kardashian brown. Dark people, an insipid country rose. Gosh by Superdrug make foundations determined enough for the job.
- Lip stick. Dior Addict, 750 Rock’n’Roll – it produces a red, glass effect that is face altering when applied well. In addition, pack a natural matt in your tote: my go-to is Lipstick Queen Sinner Opaque, Peachy nude.
- Face wipes. Asda Chosen by You. The au-naturel look can be enough of a change; add the snood and eyebrow hiders for an especially strong disguise.’
