Quick-fire Q&A with Katie Marsh

My most memorable meal was…
The pork pie I devoured with my newborn daughter in my arms. Celestial.

The book I’ve read the most times…
Jane Austen’s Persuasion. Reading it is a summer tradition, like Wimbledon or accidental sunburn.

If I could pick any actor/actress to play my latest lead character…
Carey Mulligan and Felicity Jones are fighting it out. In my head. Spot the vivid imagination…

The one piece of advice I would give my teenage self…
Step away from the Sun-in. And – more seriously – don’t worry, your time will come.

If I had to choose between saying everything I think or never speaking again…
The former. Though my friends would probably say I do that anyway.

If I had to choose between appearing on Strictly Come Dancing or X Factor…
Strictly Come Dancing, though with my coordination the professionals wouldn’t be happy to see me.

When I was 5 years old I wanted to be…
A writer. Or a vet. The stories won in the end.

My favourite city in the world…
Is London. I love its diversity, energy and spirit.

If I could play the starring role in any film…
Cassandra in I Capture the Castle, just so I could say that wonderful opening line.

The best thing about being a writer…
Is the feeling when somebody loves your book. Happiness, pride and sheer delight. It’s unbeatable.
